Mr. Morris passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Huntington. He was born on August 26, 1934 in Paducah, Texas.
Jesse grew up in the Bullard and Tyler area. He attended and graduated from John Tyler High School. He began working for JC Penney’s in Tyler and it is there that he met his wife of 65 years, Myrtie Bickerdike. After a couple of years of dating they were married on April 4, 1953 in Tyler. Together they raised a beautiful family, and raised three children together, Jack, Ken, and Jill. Family was always very important to Jesse, through hard work he was always able to provide for his family and more importantly taught them valuable life lessons.
He was the owner of Bradmorr Fabrics. In his free time, he loved playing cards, dominoes, and all kinds of games. He would spend hours outside tending to his yard and enjoyed playing softball and golf. Above all he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Jesse was a member of the Tyler Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. He served as an Usher at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church in Nacogdoches for several years.
Mr. Morris is survived by his loving wife, Myrtie Bickerdike Morris of Nacogdoches; sons: Jack Morris of Prosper and Rhonda, and Ken Morris and Daniel of Houston; daughter, Jill Griffin and husband, Vince of Nacogdoches; brothers: Charles Morris of Tyler and James Morris of California; sisters: Gloria McBride of Sherman, Sandra Barry and husband, John of Tyler, and Carol Truskosky of Tyler; grandchildren Chase Griffin and wife, Erin, Megan Griffin, Jennifer Smith and husband, Chuck, Kristi Young and husband, Josh, Erin Thering and husband, Nick, and eleven great grandchildren, along with other family and close friends.
He is preceded in death by daughter, Jessica Roxanne Morris, and grandson, Jeffrey Morris.
