Betty C. (O'Malley) Mackie, 92, of Santa Clara, California, died on September 29, at home in Santa Clara, California. Born in Watervliet, NY, on December 24, 1920, the youngest of six siblings, Betty was married in Troy, NY, to a career Naval officer (aviator), Kenneth J. Mackie, in June, 1942. Over the subsequent 19 years, she lived in Evanston, Illinois, Wildwood, New Jersey, Albany, New York, Carmel, California, Washington, DC, Jacksonville, Florida, and Alameda, California. She moved with her family to Santa Clara in 1961, coincident with her husband's retirement from the Navy. From 1969 to 1987 she was an instructor at San Jose City College in the Cosmetology Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Mackie in 1983. She is survived by four children, Kenneth J. Mackie, Jr., (Jeanne Mackie) of Fairfield, California, and Timothy X. Mackie, Christopher M. Mackie, (Debbie Mackie) and Nancy Mackie Rasmussen, (Rick Rasmussen) all of San Jose, California. In addition she has four grandchildren, Cory J. Mackie, of Mercer Island, Washington, Michelle Mackie Hogan, of Sonoma, California, and Erik S. Rasmussen and Nicholas J. Rasmussen, of San Jose, California. Betty's two great grandchildren are Callie Anne Hogan and Brendan J. Hogan of Sonoma, California. Memorial Service to be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11AM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers donations preferred to the Humane Society of Santa Clara, 2530 Lafayette St., Santa Clara, CA 95050 or Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Ave., San Jose, CA 95124.
