Mrs. Arnold was born May 15, 1931 in Whitesburg to the late Lewis Lonnie Thrower and Sally Steel Thrower. She was a Methodist by faith.
She worked for Bibb Manufacturing making blankets, and retired after 36 years of service. She used her skills as a seamstress to make beautiful pieces of embroidery, crocheted items, and quilts.
When she wasn’t working with a needle and thread, one might find her down at the fishing hole. She liked to catch a mess of fish, clean them and have a big meal with all the fixings. The table might even have some of the fruits and vegetables she canned that summer.
Among her favorite outings was shopping, especially at WalMart. She also enjoyed going to Buncombe on Saturdays to listen to Bluegrass music. Every time you saw her she had beautiful fingernails, and she loved to have them done.
Survivors include: three daughters: Hellen Marie Smith (L. C.) of Bowdon, Sandra Bell (Tommy) of Ephesus, and Nancy McCormick (Howard) of Ephesus; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; niece, Diane Cash of Carrollton; and a number of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Arnold; and three sons: Allen Wayne Arnold, Robert Lee Arnold, and Steve Edward “Eddie” Arnold.
