Douglas Eugene Tucker, 57, died at home on Saturday, August 18, 2018, surrounded by his family. A native of Norfolk, VA, he was born to R. Douglas Tucker and the late Faye Freeman Tucker on November 11, 1960.

Doug graduated from Old Dominion University in 1984 with a degree in mechanical engineering and completed his master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Brigham Young University in 2000. During his 34-year working career, he worked for several different companies as a mechanical design engineer, including General Dynamics in Greensboro for 15 years. For the last 12 years he was employed as a senior mechanical design and development engineer at Flextronics in Creedmoor and Raleigh. Doug was known as a capable and reliable engineer; a go-to guy who always got the job done right.

Doug was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and interim youth leader. He was also an active part of the audio-visual team at Enon. He loved his church and his Lord. Even sick in the hospital with Stage IV stomach cancer, he gave a testimony to the medical team that were caring for him, giving glory to “the God of his salvation” and placing his faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. Doug was at peace.

Doug was loved by his family and shared an exceptionally close relationship with his 19-year-old, special-needs son, Zach. He had an extraordinarily witty and contagious sense of humor and blessed his family and friends with much laughter. He also had many interests and hobbies during his life, including scuba diving, obtaining his private pilot’s license and restoring classic cars.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; his beloved sons, Robert Douglas Tucker of Franklinton, and Zachary Caleb Tucker and Matthew Herndon Tucker, both of the home. He is also survived by his father, R. Douglas Tucker (Tika) of Ellenboro, NC; and brothers, Charles “Bud” Quinley (Anita) of Ellenboro, NC; Randy Tucker of Hendersonville; and his sisters, Mary Jo Goldsmith of Gloucester, VA; Sherry Ann Quinley of Gloucester, VA; sister-in-law, Pauline Quinley of Poquoson, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews, who all loved him deeply, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Doug was predeceased by his mother, Faye Tucker, and his brother, Robert Quinley (Pauline) of Poquoson, VA.

Flowers are acceptable, or memorials may be made in his honor to Enon Baptist Church (Youth Program).

Visitation for Mr. Doug Tucker will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Enon Baptist Church with service to follow at 3:00 pm, officiated by Reverend Steve Brown. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery.
