Actor and Singer. Born in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, he started his entertainment career when he was 19. He got a job as a puppeteer for the annual Icelandic TV comedy special "Áramótaskaupið," while also studying at the Drama Academy of Iceland. The following year, he appeared in his first film, a comedy entitled "Privacy." In 2002, he married Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir and they later had three daughters and one son. He was invited by Magnús Scheving to play Robbie Rotten in the play "LazyTown," and after making a deal with Nickelodeon, it became a TV show. He would play the role of Robbie Rotten from 2004-2007 and 2013-2014. In 2008, he starred as the Grinch in "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical," which ran until 2015. He also did voice-overs for characters in movies such as "Thor" and "Night at the Museum." Diagnosed with bile duct cancer in 2016, a GoFundMe page was created to raise money for Stefán's treatment. This sparked many online creators to make many parodies and memes of his Robbie Rotten character and his signature song "We are Number One," tagging his GoFundMe page while doing so. Unfortunately, by March of 2018, the cancer was labelled inoperable and Stefán died on August 21, 2018 at the age of 43. Per his request, his ashes were scattered at sea.
