Honored Citizen Dead
John S. Brownlee died at his home suddenly on last Saturday evening of heart trouble. He was 66 years old and has resided in Lead for the past fifteen years. His sudden death comes as a severe shock to all who have known him. He leaves a large family of children to mourn for him. Two daughters, Miss Verna, Mrs. G.G. Ebersole and his son John reside in Lead, and two married daughters reside in Omaha. His son Thomas arrived this afternoon from Silver Plume, Colorado. Mr. Brownlee was a native of Richmond, Canada, and came to the United States when a young man. His long life has been one of activity and usefulness. He was a man of great honor, and one who made friends and held them. His funeral takes place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Congregational church.

Peace to His Ashes
The funeral over the remains of the late John S. Brownlee took place at the Congregational church, with Rev. Ira McConnaughy preaching the service. The kindest of respects were paid to the memory of the honored old gentleman, and much sorrow expressed for his sons and daughters. The K. of P. band lead the funeral cortege to the West Lead cemetery where all that was earthly was laid beneath the sod.
