Bold, sassy, lighthearted, and loving, Kaila Cardann Bangerter, age 24, unexpectedly left her place on earth in August, 2018 while residing in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She was born on April 14, 1994.
Raised in Centerville, Utah, Kaila was the supportive and patient sister to three older brothers. She had a powerful presence, a light you could sense upon first meeting her that was almost intimidating. Kaila was never afraid to speak her mind, stand for her truth, or build the life of her dreams. Her spontaneous and adventurous personality led her across many avenues of creativity and expression from singing and writing poetry, to playing volleyball, tennis, and hockey, to racing at high-speeds in skeleton, bobsled, motorsports, watersports, & go-karting, and enjoyed worldly travel ... the list of pursuits goes on and on. She also loved to drive, whether it be behind a wheel or taking charge of a situation. She did life on her terms.
As such, she was a trailblazer in creating new pathways for learning. With determination, she fought the political restrictions of school boundaries, enabling her to attend two elementary schools and two junior highs. In high school, she designed her own curriculum, so her experiences were unique and fulfilling to her. She graduated from Viewmont High School in 2012.
With a high school diploma in hand, Kaila could not wait to begin her next adventure. Her learned skills and compassion for others led her to explore a career path in the funeral industry. Shortly after graduation, she had the opportunity to apprentice at Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls, Idaho - she loved it! By August, she had convinced her mom and dad that a cross country move was necessary to facilitate her career goals. With their reserved blessing, the plans for the 2,300 mile journey to Massachusetts began.
By 2015, She graduated with an Associate degree in Applied Science in Funeral Services from FINE Mortuary College in Boston, with an internship at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Homes. One of her greatest talents manifested in her ability to provide peace, direction and assistance to the families she served. Her most recent career accomplishment was a residential counselor at Vinfen, a group home designed to assist those battling mental health conditions. She recently accepted a promotion to human rights officer where she would work diligently to help residents become independent and valued members of their communities.
While in Cape Cod, Kaila’s path crossed with an adorable little six year old girl, Kylie Gail, her father and their extended family. She was deeply devoted to the relationship that developed, while her endearing friendships continued to dot the globe. She kept a select few very close to her heart, yet continued collecting, touching and gathering special friends as she navigated her way through life.
With all her heart and understanding, Kaila believed death is not an end to the journey. God is a super star who intentionally and wonderfully created Kaila and has now received and welcomed our brightest star back home with Him. We know Heaven is a much brighter place with her entrance.
Kaila is survived by her parents, Chad and Kristi Bangerter; brothers Tyler, Chandler and Mason; nieces Abigail and Kaitlin; grandparents Heidi Larson, the late Kit Larson, John and Carol Davies, Rick and Pat Bangerter and by numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
