Ruth "Marion" Webster was born May 24, 1925, in Crookston, Polk County, Minnesota, the daughter of Morris Nathaniel and Frances Mercedes (Mahon) Webster.

Marion was a member of the United States Nurse Corps during World War II.

Marion married Thayne Carlton Parks on June 14, 1947, in Everett, Snohomish County, Washington. Thayne was born September 19, 1924, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, the son of Carlton Nathaniel and Aletha Fern (Rosenstiel) Parks. Marion and Thayne had the following children:

1. John Carlton Parks
2. Michael Webster Parks
3. Melissa Elizabeth Parks

Marion and Thayne eventually separated but they never divorced. Thayne died December 14, 2008, in Marysville, Snohomish County, Washington. Marion died August 19, 2018, in Washington. Following is Ruth's obituary from HearaldNet, Everett, Washington:

May 24, 1925 - August 19, 2018

"Once I was a young girl standing in my bedroom, peering into the future, trying to see myself as an old lady. I am now in the stage of pulling it all together, making meaning of the journey. "More and more I feel myself a part of the continuity of mankind; I have an awareness of myself in the past, present and future. I held the hand of my grandmother, and our two lifetimes have spanned over 140 years - from the time of the Civil War to now. "I now look back on that young girl in her bedroom, peering into the future, trying to see herself as an old lady. Now we see each other! Yoo hoo, young Marion; I see you looking at me!"

Ruth Marion Webster Parks ended her earthly journey on August 19, 2018, a 93-year odyssey characterized by a loving, generous heart and never an unkind word for anyone. She was surrounded by family members when she stepped into the light to be with her brothers, parents and grandparents.

Marion began her life in Crookston, MN on May 24, 1925. Her family moved from Minot, ND to Langley, WA in 1933 where her parents were teachers. During WWII, Marion joined the Cadet Nurse Corps. She soon met her future husband, a young sailor named Thayne C. Parks. After her three children were grown, Marion became a public health nurse and pursued her passion for writing.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Francis Webster of Everett, WA; her husband, Thayne; and her two brothers, John and Richard Webster (Rosalie). She is survived by her children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Marion also leaves behind her PEO sisters who were very dear to her. She went exactly as she wanted to go: quickly, with all of her faculties intact and plenty of family and friends to keep her company. She played the game well for 93 years, and in the end, won the prize. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering of Family and Friends, from 2-4p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Van Valey House, 2130 Colby, Everett, WA 98201.
