Gayle B. Vaughn, 82, of Fieldale, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Gayle was preceded in death by his parents Nannie I. and Gene B. Vaughn, brothers Donald E. Vaughn, and Rex A. Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife, Frances A. Vaughn; children, Mitzi George (Donald), Kim McAlexander (Bobby), Chris Watson, (Mikee), Trudy Bateman (Danny) and Gene Vaughn; sister JoAnne Foley; 14 grandchildren.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 25 years, retiring as a Petty Officer 1st Class. He earned the Armed Forces Expedition Medal and Navy Expeditionary Medal for his service during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
After retirement from the Navy, Gayle drove a school bus 25 years for Henry County.
Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.
