Tina Marie Dixon
July 16, 1974-August 5, 2018
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Psalms 73:23

Tina Marie Dixon, daughter, sister, friend, born July 16, 1974, departed this earthly life August 5, 2018. Tina’s walk with Christ began with her baptism as a child and though her passing is untimely, her loved ones are comforted by the fact that her belief and devotion to God has brought her everlasting peace.

A native of Tacoma, Washington, Tina graduated Henry Foss High School class of 1992 and attended Clark University in Atlanta, Georgia, subsequently going on to receive her Juris Doctor from the Seattle University School of Law.

Tina’s commitment to the welfare of children and disadvantaged spearheaded her choice to practice civil rights law through which she began career with the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel. Throughout her short but impactful career she worked doggedly as a staff attorney on behalf of those most affected by the criminal justice system. Her work and unwavering commitment as a civil rights attorney was of benefit to various organizations such as the Washington DC Center for Children’s Law and Policy, the Montgomery, Alabama Equal Justice Initiative, and the Miami, Florida Southern Poverty Law Center.

Continuing in the path of her father’s legacy of community service, Tina served as a member of the City of Tacoma Human Rights Commission, and the Tacoma Urban League. Tina was also proud legacy member of her mother’s sorority Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

She is survived by her father Thomas Dixon, mother Sylvia Dixon, brother Whitney Dixon, maternal grandmother Gladys Wells, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her greatly.
