Joseph T. Nixon of Bremen passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 in a local hospital. He was born in Carroll County, April 11, 1923, son of the late William Gordon Nixon and Irene McEwen Nixon. Mr. Nixon was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, a member of Center Point United Methodist Church, but actively attended Poseyville United Methodist Church and a 29 year retiree from Lockheed, where he was supervisor in the B28 Building.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nelda Nixon Dillon.
Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Theodosia McGukin Nixon of Bremen; a daughter, Teresa Smith of Bremen; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, August 21 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Duane McManus officiating and Mr. Donald Levans presenting the eulogy. Music will be furnished by the Poseyville church choir and Danny Nixon accompanied by Maxine House. David Otwell, Render Otwell, Randy Otwell, Danny Nixon, Todd Smith, Cameron Medina, Stephen Grizzard, Billy Grizzard and Keith Lovvorn will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Center Point Cemetery with Reverend Bill Tidwell officiating and the Carroll County Military Honor Guard furnishing the military honors.
