Richard T. “Skinny” McGuire, 74, Cainsville, MO (formerly of Bode, IA) passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at a North Kansas City hospice facility.
He was born on March 8, 1944 in Whittemore, Iowa the son of Mark T. and Florence P. (Voit) McGuire.
On November 29, 1968 he married Rosa Lee Illg at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bode, IA. She survives of the home.
Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years and the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bethany, MO. He enjoyed fishing, building and flying R/C airplanes, tinkering around the farm, fixing and inventing new gadgets and looking for the next garage sale treasure.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Donald, Leonard, Mark, Patrick, Edward, David, and Luke McGuire; sisters, Helen Bockenstedt and Ann Thompson; brothers-in-law, Fred Bockenstedt, Harold Reit; sisters-in-law, Ruth, Verena, Cecelia, Carol, and Dorothy McGuire; son-in-law, Harvey Hayden and granddaughter, April Hayden.
Richard is also survived by his daughter, Denise (Brian) Eddy, Garden City, MO; son, Patrick (Mona) McGuire, Smithville, MO; grandchildren, Melissia Hayden Davis, Elijah Hayden, Leah Hayden, Devin McGuire and McKenna McGuire; great granddaughter, Brittany Bilbruck; sisters, Mary Reit, West Des Moines, IA, Florence (Carl) McGuire, Lamoni, IA; brother, Michael (Deb) McGuire, Atchison, KS; and sisters-in-law, Diane McGuire, West Des Moines, IA and Carol McGuire, Algona, IA.
