Mrs. Maude May Dies At Age of 88

Mrs. Maude May, 88 of Hillsboro, died Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. at Hillsboro hospital, where she had been a patient for several weeks, following an extended period of declining health.

Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. at Bass funeral home with the Rev. Howard Janssen officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Florence Maude May, the last of a family of 14, was born June 19, 1881 in East Fork township, a daughter of the late John and Mary Martha (Nugent) Fath. She was united in marriage with William Porter May at Coffeen, September 1904. The couple made their home in Staunton for many years where Mr. May was a mine hoisting engineer. Mr. May died in 1940.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Wilma May of Livingston: two granddaughters, Mrs. Judith Rosenthal of Mt. Olive and Mrs. Alfred Purdy of Sawyerville and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers who grew to adulthood. Mrs. Dora Henry, Mrs. Anna Lentz, Mrs. Ethel Joyce, Ida Fath, Eugene L., John, Charles, Guy, and Luke Fath.

She was a member of the Presbyterian chruch.
