Calvin L. Wintrowd 79 who formely lived in the Carleton community five miles south of Garwin, died at the Evengelical Deaconess Hospital at 1:20a. m. Sunday where he had been a patient since Sep. 1, . He had been in failing health for the last two years.
Calvin Lewis was born Oct. 10, 1870 in Le Grand, the son of Peter and Abigail Wintrowd. When he was a samll boy the family moved to the Carleton neighborhood.
After his marriage in August, 1891 to Tressie Beatrice Filloon at Garwin they farmed on the home farm untill Sep. , 1948 when they moved to Marshalltown due to his failing health of Mr Wintrowd. In August, 1941 Mr. & Mrs. Winterword celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary.
He was the last surviving member of his family, being prededed in death by four brothers, three sisters and two children who dided in infancy.
Survivng are his widow and three children., Mrs. Laurin Fisher of Montour and Carl and Durward Wintrowd both of Marshalltown. Eight grand children and seven great - grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Winterowd was a member of the Carleton Brethren Church where he survices were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in charge of the Pastor Rev. Edward Bowman. Burial in the Dobson cemetery.
