Charles Henry Farnham was a son of Rev. Lyman Hibbard Farnham & Prudence S. Lee.

He enlisted as a Private in Company "K", 8th Regiment Vermont Volunteer Infantry on December 7th, 1861.

He went missing while in action on September 4th, 1862 and died of diptheria at the age of 18 at Algiers, Louisisana on September 17th, 1862.

Six months after his death, his younger brother, Orison Leroy Farnham, went off to war at the age of 16, wearing his older brother's uniform which was a few sizes too large for him. Many years later, Orison displayed the uniform he wore, which by then was several sizes too small.
