Death of Franklin Lewis Lombard.

Last Sunday the sad intelligence was received here from Madison, South Dakota, of the death of Franklin Lewis Lombard. The deceased had been suffering for several years from heart troubles, and for the last eighteen months the disease had been of such a serious nature as to confine him much of the time to his home.

With a hope that such a trip would prove beneficial to his health, he left here on the 11th inst., accompanied by his wife, to visit Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Davison, their son-in-law and daughter, who reside at Madison. He died on the following Sunday after reaching there. Notwithstanding his condition, the announcement of his death came unexpectedly upon his relatives and friends here.

The Lombard family came from Maine, the state which has furnished Minnesota so many hardy and worthy citizens, and its members have been well known in this section for their enterprise and thrift. Abraham Lombard, the father of the family, settled here in 1868, removing from Cumberland county, Maine.

The deceased was a member of Meridian lodge, A. F. & A. M., and there will be a meeting of the lodge this evening to make arrangements for attending his funeral.

The deceased was sixty-seven years old, and was next to the oldest of five of the surviving family of eight children. The survivors are Mrs. Lucinda Woodsum, Mrs. Martha Hamlin, Mr. A. M. Lombard, Mr. Abraham G. Lombard and Mrs. Mary Chadburn. Besides his wife he leave two children, Ernest Lombard and Mrs. J. W. Davison.

A telegram has been received stating that the remains will arrive here on the noon train tomorrow, and, upon their arrival, the funeral services will be held at the residence by Rev.. D. H. Rohrabaugh. The burial will be in charge of the Masonic Lodge.
