Obit says she was married in San Antonio - per marriage records she and W.P. Franklin were married in Blanco County.

Her obituary states the visitation will be at Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Chapel 307 E. Sandstone Llano, Texas. The funeral services and fellowship will be August 20, 2018 at Walnut Methodist Church on RR 3347.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Franklin; parents Clara (Harper) and Ernest Ekstrand; sister Ethyl Evans.

Ruth attended school and graduated in 1939 from South Gate High, South Gate Cal. Attended business school in 1940. She worked as a butcherette in Long Beach. In 1953 she moved to Austin, Texas and worked for the Cash and Carry Grocery, the Army and Texas Legislature in the Enrolling and Engrossing Dept.

Ruth the moved to Marble Falls in 1954 and worked for Barnett Chevrolet Co. delivering cars. She was known as “Sam the traveling woman”. Next she worked at Giesecke Grocery on Main Street and then to the 281 location. Next she worked at Mathis Air Conditioning in the office of the Purchasing Agent. Then Ruth worked at Granite Mountain Hunting Cabin. In May of 1961 Wade Cunningham introduced her to Skinny Childers and he gave her a job at Pure Stone/J.M. Huber.

Ruth moved to Llano, Texas in 1966 and married Walter Franklin October 30, 1966 in San Antonio. She then retired from J.M. Huber in 1979. She spent the next 17 years traveled with the “Holiday Rambler Group” and traveled to England 5 times to visit with Walter’s relatives. She also took numerous trips to South America, Canada, Scotland, Wales and Alaska. Ruth enjoyed many parties with close friends and family, traveling, and collecting doll houses and miniatures.

Ruth is survived by a daughter; grandchildren; Lynnette Jayne, Kevin Collier, and Lori Collier; Great Grandchildren, Ashlea Harnden, Lauren Bowen, Kyle Collier, Raquel Christal, Lexi Evans, and Launa Evans; 6 Great Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by twin brothers James and John Ekstrand. As well as Frank Franklin, Jennifer Franklin Oritz, Oliver Franklin, Georgia Franklin, family friends Patsy and Ed Irving, Mary and Richard Miller, Cathy McCoy, and her loving caregivers Lin and JE Todd Carol McDonald and Rebecca Waechter and a host of many friends.
