She was born February 12, 1944 in Centralia, Illinois the daughter of William H. Welsch and Sylvia “Mae” Meador Atchison.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Tony Mobley of Salem and Derek Patton of Centralia; one daughter, Tonya Miller and husband, Phil “P.J.” of Centralia; three grandchildren, Chris Brown and Fiancé, Kristi Carter, and girls of Centralia, Miranda McNealy of Collinsville, and Shayde Patton of DuQuoin; one great- granddaughter, Averlynn; one brother, Michael “Dago” Atchison and wife, Tamara, of Franklin, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Bob Stuehlmeyer of Centralia; many nieces, nephews and special extended family, Patty Donoho and husband, Derek, and family of Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a special step-father: Clarence “Dago” Atchison; a sister, Mary Stuehlmeyer; and two half-sisters, Virginia and Joyce.
Before Retirement, Shirley was a supervisor for BCMW Project Bread in Salem. She was of the Baptist Faith and a V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Member. Shirley will be most remembered by her smile, infectious personality and dancing the night away. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Funeral Services for Shirley A. Patton will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, with Jeff Miller officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Woods Activity Fund and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, IL 62801 (618)-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Patton family.
