Alan Wayne Bertrand, 58, of Excelsior Springs, MO, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO.
Alan was born on November 26, 1953 in Sioux City, IA to Donald M. and Marie E. (LaCroix) Bertrand. Alan married Sheila Barker of Los Angles, CA on July 23, 1994; she survives of the home. Additional survivors include; his mother Marie Bertrand, Sioux City, IA; two daughters Angle Houpt (Glenn), Evergreen, CO and Amy Ochoa (Eliseo), Lincoln, NE; two step-sons Greg Kleider(Andrea), Sioux City, IA and Jeremey Kleider (Mary), Dekota, NE; three brothers Steven Bertrand (Christy), Lincoln, NE, Jay Bertrand (Carol), Rayville, MO and Devlin Bertrand (Kelly) South Sioux City, IA; two sisters Diane Jackson (Denny) Eagle, NE and Donita Seiler (Roger), Merrill, IA; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father Donald, one brother Thomas, niece Bethany Bertrand, sister-in-law Sheena Krishnan and mother-in-law Gail Barker. Alan was an assembly worker at the Ford Plant in Kansas City, MO. He belonged to the United Auto Workers Union. He was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs. Alan was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, loved raising and caring for animals and enjoyed cooking, smoking meats, preparing game and tinkering in his shop. He had served his county in the United States Army. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alan Wayne Bertrand Memorial Fund in care of Thurman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Inurnment will be at a later date. On-line condolences may be left to the family
