On June 5, 1937 in the Essex, Mo. area, Louie Fred Burns, known as Pat Burns to the family was born to Elmer and Lydia. Pat went to school as much as he was able, he said he really enjoyed going and learning. He and his brothers helped work in his dad's sawmill.
In 1958, Louie met his soul mate, Gloria Kitz. He told the story of when he first met Gloria: He was in Naylor, on a Saturday evening and saw her. Gloria had stopped to buy a soda after working in the cotton field that day. Pat said he thought she was a beautiful girl and was a worker so he knew he better get to know her better! On Dec. 27, 1958, Louie and Gloria were married. Louie was in the service and was deployed to Korea soon after.
