Kim Boy was born August 17, 1958 in Cornwall, the son of Catherine Lazore Edwards and the late Wilbur Harold Edwards. He attended schools on the reservation and at Salmon River Central School. He also took welding courses at St. Lawrence College. He married Kelly Krigbaum in 2012 on Onondaga Nation.
Kim Boy was an ironworker with Local 711 in Montreal for many years until becoming disabled. He had a great love for dancing and also enjoyed fishing, fast cars, and fixing things. He had a great love for sports and played football while he was in high school. He will be fondly remembered for his ability to visit with people, storytelling and his wonderful sense of humor. Kim Boy also cherished the time he was able to spend with his children.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly; his children and their companions, Crystal “Teka” Lazore, Mike Edwards, Jr., Lacey Edwards (Kawi Arquette), Jarrett Edwards (Angel Garlow), Kacey Edwards (Ryan White), Todd Edwards (Devon Victoria Oakes), Hattie Edwards (Lance Hemlock), and Clint Edwards (Kaneretonkie Jacy Boots, all of Akwesasne; his stepchildren, Tara (Anthony) David, of Akwesasne; Peter Edwards (Joeylee McNeil) and Randi Edwards (Seb Shenandoah), all of Onondaga Nation; 15 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; and the mother of his seven children, Kim Chubb.
He is also survived by his mother, Catherine Edwards of Akwesasne; his sisters, Elizabeth Edwards of Akwesasne and Roseanne Edwards of Montreal; his brothers, Al Edwards of Akwesasne, Rod Edwards of Kanawake, and Charlie Edwards of Akwesasne; his god mother, Greta Margaret Barnes; his godchildren, Skylar David and Jaid Edwards Boots; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Wilbur Harold Edwards, Jr. on May 1, 1990.
