BLOOMINGTON, IN - Barbara R. Hyde passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Bloomington, IN July 21, 2018. She was born in Detroit, MI the daughter of William C. Kemper and Esther (Belt) Kemper. Her sister, Mary Esther Kinsey also preceded her in death.

Barbara graduated from Alma College where she studied music with a focus on pipe organ.

She attended IUSB for post graduate work in music and education. She lived in South Bend, IN, raising two children with her husband, Carroll C. Hyde, Jr. She was a piano teacher, supervisor, and teacher at Mr. Music, organist and choir director at the First Baptist Church for twenty years, and music teacher at Niles, MI. Her volunteer work at the First Presbyterian Church included Mother's Study Club, deacon, co-director of summer music camp at Redbud Trail Retreat, & adult advisor for youth groups. Barbara was program chairman of P.T.A., president of local chapter of Choristers Guild, president of local American Recorder Society, dean of American Guild of Organists, tutor for literacy council, tour guide for the Visitors and Convention Bureau and Chamber of Commerce, and accompanist for American Recorder Society and Presbyterian Players. Many summers were spent traveling in the U.S. and Europe.

After retirement Barbara moved to Pentwater, MI where every summer, happy memories were made. In 2002 she moved to Bloomington, IN to be near her family. She lit up every room she entered. She had a full and active life.

Barbara is survived by her children, William Hyde (Lynne) of Miami, FL and Elizabeth (Larry) Brown of Bloomington, IN; grandsons, Joshua (Jill) Hyde of Viera, FL, Reuben (Ginny) of Ft. Worth, TX, and Evan (Siu Trang) of Boynton Beach, FL; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Andrew Hyde.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, IN on August 22, 2018 at 3pm.
