James Lawrence Tapley was born on October 13, 1967, in Merced, California, to Benny and Audrey Scott Tapley. He peacefully passed to his eternal rest at home on November 1, 2016, while surrounded by his wife, family, and friends. They were singing his favorite song, "Rock of Ages," as he took his last breath.
He spent his early childhood years living with his maternal grandfather near Grants, New Mexico. He had many fond memories of the time spent there. He spent the rest of his childhood in foster homes and group homes in the Modesto, California, area.
He married me, Mary Jean Koehn, on October 4, 2004, in Reno, Nevada. We enjoyed life together for twelve years. After several short stays in other locations, we settled in Ontario, Oregon. Although he had many health problems, he always had a good sense of humor and looked on the bright side of life. He often brought smiles to those he met along life's way. He loved to help others and greatly appreciated any show of kindness.
He will be greatly missed by me, his loving wife, Mary, Ontario, Oregon; one sister, Angela, Oakdale, California; a special cousin, Glen Tapley, and his wife, Robbie, Norwalk, California; his mother-in-law, Florence Koehn, and special aunt, Delores Koehn, New Plymouth, Idaho; one brother-in-law, and four sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were held at the New Plymouth Mennonite Church, New Plymouth, Idaho, with Ministers Orin Koehn and David Nightingale officiating. Interment was in the New Plymouth Cemetery, New Plymouth, Idaho.
