John H. Hackney Jr., 71, of Troy, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 12, 1946 to John Henry and Nettie Jane Hackney Sr. After graduating from the local high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Army and became a surgical technician. He received an honorable discharge and began working in the family business, Hackney Dry Cleaning /Laundry which has been in business almost 50 years.
John was blessed with three children :Kelly, Mark and Jamie. He and Jean (Hoffner) were married in 1986 in Las Vegas, N.V. John had a great sense of humor and he didn't know a stranger. He made everyone feel like a family friend. John enjoyed spending time with his family and three grandsons; Ryan, Laine and Evan.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Hackney of Troy; his children: Kelly Hackney of St. Charles, Mark Nicholas Sumpter of Troy, Jamie and husband Michael Martie of Moscow Mills, three grandchildren; Ryan Martie, Laine Sumpter, Evan Martie, brother: Tom Hackney of Texas, sister: Sally and husband Jim McDonald of Farmington, MO and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
