Mrs. Austin was born on April 16, 1941, in Watauga County, to the late Gold G. and Sarah Jane Harmon Hicks.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Presnell and Mary-Jean Presnell; brothers, Hazel Hicks, John Hicks, Willis Hicks, and Bobby Hicks; and a daughter, Teresa Austin Glenn.
Mrs. Hicks was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, and worked in the packing department at Singer Furniture.
A Funeral service for Mrs. Austin will be Monday, August 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Greer-McElveen Chapel conducted by Rev. Jim Hamby. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
