She was preceded in death by her husband William T. "Bill" Schleich. Her children are Paul Schleich and Amanda Schleich.
Her parents were Ray and Helen M, (Steele) Alspaugh.
Surviving is her brother Gerald Alspaugh and preceded in death by sister Gloria Rae (Alspaugh) Smith.
Carol founded "Preacher to Go" a service where she officated weddings and served as a chaplain .
She died at the Diley Ridge Medical Center.

Carol J. Schleich, age 68 of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Diley Ridge Medical Center. She was born November 27, 1949 in Columbus, daughter of the late Ray P. and Helen M. (Steele) Alspaugh. Carol founded “Preacher To Go”, a service where she officiated weddings and served as a chaplain; she was a master gardener; she volunteered at the Opportunity Center in Lancaster and was a lifelong animal rescuer. Carol was known to paint “kindness rocks” and leave them for others to find and enjoy. She was also an author who self-published several books on Amazon.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Amy) Schleich, of Lancaster and Amanda (Joe Stein) Schleich, of Powell; grandsons, Eli and Aaron Schleich; brother, Gerald Alspaugh, of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Shiloh. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William T. “Bill” Schleich; sister, Gloria Rae Smith.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers and in honoring Carol’s love of animal rescue, her family encourages the adoption of homeless pets in her memory.

Every week, Carol would send Charlotte Carter a greeting card. She loved doing it. Charlotte is in a rest home. She is all alone. She lives for greeting cards. Anyone who reads this, please send Charlotte a greeting card. Charlotte is totally disabled in a wheelchair and was abandoned by her brother, but Charlotte lives for greeting cards.
