Ruth N. Crawford R.N., Las Vegas, Nev., was an administrative consultant of the United States public health service, and held the rank of captain in World War II, according to Ajph. aphapublications.org, and wedding announcement in Carson City newspaper. In 1949, she was choosen to represent nurse association as a delegate to Nurses Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ruth's Obituary reads as follows:
Reno Evening Gazette (Reno, Nevada) 1952 June 4
CARSON, JUNE 4 - Mrs. James Thom, who has been seriously ill for many months, died Monday afternoon in Grass Valley, Calif., where she had gone to recuperate from her illness.
Private services will be held in the home Thursday, and will be conducted by Rev. Winfield R. Thom and Rev. John L. Harvey.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent. Instead friends who wish may contribute in her name to the Shriners’ Hospital for crippled children in Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Thom was born Ruth Naomi Crawford in Pennsylvania, where she was reared by an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heisse (should read “Heiss”). She entered the field of nursing and for many years was with the U.S. public service, where she did valuable work especially during world war II.
In May, 1951, she was married to Dr.James Thom in Carson.

Besides Dr. Thom she is survived by three step-daughters, Shirley, Ruth and Sally Thom, and by two brothers, Paul A. Crawford of Allentown, Pa., and James Crawford, China Grove, N. C.
