Leicester- Doris Ruth Surrett Black, age 67,a kind and caring lady, was carried home by the angels on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
Mrs. Black was born April 2, 1951 to the late Charles Surrett and the late Clara Worley Surrett. She had resided in Buncombe County all of her life and was employed with Mars Manufacturing in Asheville for several years. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Doris was blessed with a quite and kind spirit and in the words of her family,” Doris was also a very strong lady.” Her precious memory will be cherished forever and we know that she is now in the arms of her Lord and Saviour.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Black who passed away in 1987.
Surviving are brother, Don Surrett and his wife, Geraldine Surrett of Leicester and also several nieces and nephews that loved her deeply.
The funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Leicester. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
