The death occurred yesterday at Auckland of Mrs Miriam Hyams, widow of the late Hyam Hyams, and daughter of the late Henry Lewis, of Te Awamutu. The late Mrs Hyams, who was well-known in Cambridge, being the sister of Mr S. Lewis, of this town, lived her early life in Te Awamutu, the late Mr Henry Lewis being one of the best-known of the early settlers of the Waipa district. In addition to her brother, Mr S. Lewis, deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Messrs Hyman Lewis (Tauranga), Ben Lewis (Wellington), Professor Sinclair Lewis (Canterbury College), Dr Lewis (Rotorua), Mrs Toy and Miss R. Lewis (Te Awamutu). Interment took place at the Waikumete Cemetery this morning. (Waikato Independent, Aug. 15, 1933)

Sacred to the memory of Hyman Hyams who departed this life November 2nd 1893 aged 27 years. May his soul rest in peace. Also his wife Miriam died 14th Aug. 1933.
