He lived in Nashville TN teaching broadcasting - being in ground floor of the development of the cable television movement in Nashville in the early 70’s. Eventually he moved back to Memphis where he worked at the US Postal Service Bulk Mail center until he decided to pursue his degree in Seminary at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wakefield NC. He was a minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with some of his congregations being Englehard, NC, Parsons, TN, North Little Rock AR, Warrensburg, MO, Springfield MO, Girard, KS; eventually moving to Joplin MO where he was supply minister until he fully retired. During a break in congregations in the 90s he taught English in the Memphis Public School System.
July 20, 1997 he married the love of his life SeVera. They lived in Memphis, TN until he took a call in Springfield MO. They moved to Girard KS, eventually retiring in Joplin MO with their cats.
He was a very creative man, writing both poetry and songs. Many of the songs he wrote with his best friend Danny Dahre. He also loved to fish and to read.
He is survived by daughters Kari Mitchell of Oklahoma City, OK & Katrina Kimball of Eureka CA, sister Carol White of Oakland, TN and grandchildren, Clayton Mitchell, Johnathan Kimball, Hannah Mitchell & Lorene Kimball. Memorial service Thur Aug 9 at Spring River Christian Village, Joplin Mo. Private interment TBD in Memphis, TN.
