Born April 9, 1930 in Bland County, VA, she was a daughter of the late John Ed Smith and Sarah Jane Elizabeth Stowers Smith. Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and was a member of Laurel Fork Baptist Church in Rocky Gap. She was a graduate of Eastern Baptist Bible College, a member of the Ruritan Club, and the 39ers Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Reed, Jr.; brother, Earl Henderson Smith; and sisters, Jane Williams, Ann Stinson, and Farrie Reed.
Survivors include her children, William C. Reed, III and wife Karen of Campbellville, KY, and Michael Earl Reed and wife Robin of Chesnee, SC; brother, John Blane Smith of Wytheville, VA; sisters, Susie Gross of Bastian, VA, and Helen Williams of Bland, VA; and two grandchildren, Patrick Reed and Jennifer Reed.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday August 17, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 at Laurel Fork Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Walker officiating.
A private burial will be held at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
