John J. Shipbaugh,73,Mt. Etna,died at 8a.m. Monday(Sept. 21,1987)at his home.
Deputy Coroner Bob Sees ruled the death a suicide.
Mr. Shipbaugh was a retired farmer and was a member of the Mt. Etna Volunteer Fire Department. He served with the United States Army during World War II.
He was born April 14,1914 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Fred and Myrtle Urschel Shipbaugh. His marriage was on June 25,1949,in Mt. Etna to the former Janice Garretson, who survives.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Earl Shipbaugh, Huntington, Jake Shipbaugh, Chicago and Ned Shipbaugh, Chicago; a sister, Pearl McCurdy, Mt. Etna; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Paul and Frank Shipbaugh.
Friends may call after 7p.m. today at the Deal & Robbins Funeral Home. Services will be held at the funeral home at 3p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Homer Lynch officiating. Burial will be in the Monument City Cemetery.
