Donald “Don” E. Garrison of Leesport, PA passed on Aug. 13, 2018 in his sleep at Berks Heim Nursing facility.

Born May 23, 1925 in Los Angeles, California, he was the son of the late Pearl E. Garrison (Spence) and step-son of Daniel E. Garrison III.

He was predeceased by a son, Steven Garrison and is survived by two children: Dean Garrison, companion of Judy Pratt of Shirley, WV, and Kelly (Garrison), wife of Rex Ulmer of Tallahassee, FL.

Other survivors include three grandchildren: Heidi Garrison, of Leesport, PA; Paige Zellner of Reading, PA and Maximus Ulmer of Tallahassee, FL.

There are also three great grandchildren: Zane Hess, Layla Zellner and Brehson Bortz.

Donald graduated from El Monte High School in California and enlisted in the Army to serve in WWII. Afterward, he completed 3 years at Stanford University studying Political Science before re-enlisting in the Air Force to serve in the Korean War. Donald served from 1943 to to 1969, ending is military career as a Captain in the USAF. Donald received the purple heart, bronze star and other metals for his bravery and service to his country.

In between his military service, Donald obtains a law degree from South Texas College of Law in Jan. 25, 1964. He went on to private practice and sat as a Municipal court Judge in Texas. He also served in State of Texas House of Representatives 22nd Legislative district in Houston, Texas during the 1960's.

Donald enjoyed fishing, boating, reading, flea markets and spending time with family. He loved animals and enjoyed his two cats.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Ft. Indiantown Gap Military Cemetery in Annville, PA on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 9am.
