Mildred C. Simms, known as Connie, went home to be with the Lord, and family and friends, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. She was born on May 17, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Eva Burns. She was the wife of the late Elmer G. Simms.
She was a retiree from the Internal Revenue Service.
Surviving are her three sisters, Margaret Null of Bushnell, FL, Betty Mahoney of Westminster, MD, and Jane McQuay of Sykesville, MD, brother Kenneth Burns of Hedgesville, WV, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Doris Martin, Edith Smith and Beatrice Fleetwood, and by two brothers, Ralph and Charles Burns.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 1-3pm and 5-7pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment in Jennings Chapel Cemetery, Woodbine, MD.
