Margaret D. Brewer, 77, of Savoy passed away Tuesday (Aug. 14, 2018) with her family by her side at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.

She was born Oct. 12, 1940 in Mooers Forks, New York to Emma and Bernard La Fontaine. She married Lyle T. Brewer at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, New York on June 6, 1959; he survives. For 25 years, Margaret was by her husband’s side as he served in the Air Force, moving every two to three years to wherever the Air Force sent them. She never complained once and not only embraced the life of a military wife, she excelled in it, creating a warm and loving home for her two daughters and husband wherever they lived.

Also surviving are her daughters, Cindy (Jim) Magsamen of Seymour and Denise Bonnell of Savoy; grandchildren, Jaron (Alicia) Magsamen, Cameron (Amanda) Magsamen, Emily Bonnell and Austin Bonnell; great-grandchildren, Jarrett, Jackson and Jentry Magsamen and sister, Joan Dorn of Tomah, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Thomlinson.

Margaret worked at the former Burnham City Hospital and Covenant Medical Center in the Medical Imaging Department. She had very fond memories of working in the hospital and interacting with the patients and people she worked with. She enjoyed traveling, cruising and her winters in Florida. But more than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
