"Cynthia Amanda 'Miss Amanda' Varner, tenth child of Edward Varner and sixth child from union with Cynthia F. Byrom. (She) attended Eatonton Female Academy and then the LaGrange College. Her mother, Cynthia Hardwick FITZPATRICK Byrom(1) Varner(2) is buried in the Varner family plot of Indian Springs Cemetery. Her father, Edward Varner, lived his latter years in Milledgeville, Georgia, where he is buried in the Milledgeville Cemetery. Amanda and her sister, Josephine, paid to have placed a marble headstone at their father's Milledgeville grave, and had shrubbery and a fence added to the site. (Palmer)
