She grew up and lived her entire adult life in Northern Minnesota, always remaining close to her extended family.
Joanne spent her life sacrificing any and all to provide happiness and well being for others. Through the sheer force of her will, she raised her children to ensure they wanted for nothing, proud to see them grow up, prosper and move on to their own independent lives. After they left home, Joanne focused her effort on helping remaining family and friends in any way she could, as was her style.
Joanne is survived by her daughter, Christy Halbmaier (Derric); son, Eric Lehto (Nikki); sister, Jeanne Speece; mother, Agnes Kirkeby; one granddaughter; and nephews: Douglas and Daniel (along with their children who all grew up knowing her lovingly as "Auntie KoKo").
She was preceded in death by her son, Troy; father, Sigvald; and nephews, Patrick and David Speece.
