N. A. Collins Dead
N.A. Collins, well known citizen and Civil War veteran, died at his home in this city on last Thursday, December 17. Funeral services were held by the Morrison Masonic Lodge of which the deceased was a member.
Mr. Collins was born in Indiana in 1833. He was a soldier in the Civil War, being wounded after a year of service and was for several months confined in the hospital at Frederick , Maryland.
Mr. Collins came West after the War and was married in Eldorado Co, Kansas. His wife preceded him to the great beyond. Five children (of seven) survive him, two sons and three daughters. The sons, N(athaniel) A. and William (P.) Collins of Pawnee. The daughters, are Miss May Collins and Mrs. Florence Miller of Pawnee, and Mrs. Roxie Stoutey of Lela. Five brothers also survive him, M. L. (Martin Louis Collins, half-brother) of Lela, E. A. (Elbridge Andrew Collins, full-brother) of Grant County, Indiana, U. G. (Ulysses Grant, half-brother) of Dexter, Kansas, Chas (Charles Bernard Collins, half-brother) of Bentley, Kansas and Sam (Samuel A. Collins, half-brother) of Settle, Washington.
Mr. Collins was a highly esteemed friend of the Courier Dispatch and this paper joins in the general mourning for his demise. His loss will be deeply felt especially by his old friends.
