Darrell Reed, 50, of Breitung Township, passed away Saturday, November 4th, 2017, at Dickinson County Hospital, Iron Mountain, Michigan. He was born on February 8th, 1967. Darrell graduated from Kingsford High School in 1985 and then earned his degree in civil engineering from Michigan Tech University in 1990. He met his wife Jodi in Iron Mountain in 1991 and were married on July 26, 2003. After graduating from college Darrell worked for Westra Construction for seven years in Beaver Dam, WI. Then went to C.R. Meyer for eight years in Oshkosh, WI.
Darrell was diagnosed with Huntington Disease in 2012. He and his wife moved back to Iron Mountain to be closer to family and friends for support as his disease progressed. After being diagnosed he immediately joined the study in Denver Colorado where he and his wife traveled numerous times a year for testing. He wanted to contribute to finding a cure.
Darrell was a very generous and giving man. He was always there to help family and friends in any way he could. Darrell loved to hunt whitetail deer and made several trips to South Dakota to pheasant hunt with his father. On the off season from hunting he enjoyed every sport imaginable. Darrell had attended the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta Georgia. He went to several U.S. Opens, Sweet 16's, final four, and Packer games.
