Doris Jean McKee
January 29, 1933 - July 15, 2018

Jean McKee died on a sunny Sunday, July 15, 2018, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Doris Jean Sharp in Waco, TX in 1933, the youngest in a large family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neeley "Whitey" McKee, and her parents John and Annie Sharp. She was the last surviving member of the Sharp "sibs," as she and her siblings were known to the family: brothers Tol Sharp, Curtis Sharp, James Pascal "Pack" Sharp, and Andrew "Jack" Sharp; and her sisters Edna "Ettie" Lee, Bracie Kelley, Zelta Akin, and Ruth Cokley. Jean was also preceded in death by one son, Edward McKee, and one grandson.
Jean is survived by an extended and loving family, including: daughters Ella Baldwin of CO, Catherine McKee of Visalia, Susan Hauge of Visalia, Belinda Martin of Visalia, Beverly "Candie" Sharon of WA; sons Steve Elliott of TX and William "Bill" McKee of CA; and 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Jean was cared for in her final years by dear friend Sally Lockridge and her family.
Jean was all about family and keeping them fed. She made the best biscuits and gravy from a recipe she learned from her mother and passed on to her daughters and granddaughters, and she could match anyone with her peach cobbler.
In lieu of flowers, remember Jean with a random act of kindness, or if you prefer, a donation to a charity benefiting Alzheimer's research. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends August 18, 2018 at the home of her daughter Belinda Martin. Condolences can be made to www.salseranddillard.com
