Claude E. Davis, Jr., age 74, passed away peacefully at his residence in South Bend on the morning of Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Claude was born on December 28, 1943 in Kenneth, Missouri to the late Claude Ester Davis and Sylvia Louise (White) Davis.

Claude spent most of his life in South Bend and on September 2, 1993, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Rita M. (Lane) Anderson-Davis. Claude proudly served his country in the US Army and was employed as a truck driver and loader for Preston Trucking South Bend. He was a loving step-father to three and step-grandfather to three.

Claude is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rita; stepdaughters Janet (Vincent) Ash, Virginia (Richard Hollingshead) Hogan and Valerie (Mike) Brown, all of Indianapolis; six step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Lillian Wordlaw of Marion, AR, Joe (Gloria) Davis, Dennis Davis, Maurice (Carol) Davis, all of Memphis, TN, Vergie, Rodney, Helene, Claudia, Natalie, Kimberly (Donald) and Mark Davis, all of Chicago, IL, Margie (Calvin) West of Hayti, MO, Valerie of TX and Terrell Davis of Denver, CO; sister-in-law Ruth Taylor of Elkhart; brothers-in-law Charlie Taylor and ML Taylor and wife, both of Elkhart; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Claude is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mae Lane of South Bend and a close friend, David Turley of South Bend.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carolyn.

Funeral services for Mr. Claude E. Davis, Jr. will be held on Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmer Funeral Home-West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Rev. Carlina Wilkes will officiate. Burial will follow on Monday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. EST at Ft.
