Arlene (Detwiler) Young, 86, of Telford, PA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13th, 2018 at LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown, PA.
She was the loving wife of the late Harold M. Young for 66 years. Arlene was born in Telford, PA to the late Tyson L. and Lizzie M. (Freed) Detwiler.
She was a member of Souderton Mennonite Church where she served as a former Sunday school teacher in the children’s department.
Arlene was a loving mother, known to her grandchildren as “Mom-mom.” She enjoyed drawing, making crafts and building toy structures. She also enjoyed collecting things of nature.
Arlene was an independent woman, who will be remembered for her good humor. A self taught guitarist and pianist, she enjoyed gospel music.
She is survived by her three sons, Bryan Young his wife Phyllis of Pennsburg, PA, Loren Young his wife Norma of Pennsburg, PA and Neal Young his wife Tracie of Sellersville, PA; three daughters, Faye Noell her husband Nick of Schwenksville, PA, Gayle Kerr her husband Barry of Quakertown, PA and Sharon Eddinger her husband Jim of Souderton, PA; seven grandchildren, Tanya, Troy, Jacky, Courtnie, Summer, Cierra and Amy; five great-grandchildren, Delaney, Tanner, Sage, Sophia and Oaklen.
In addition to her husband, Harold she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joel Young, two sisters, Edith Halteman and Sarah Ruth and a brother, Stanley Detwiler.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.
Private burial will take place at Zion Memorial Gardens.
