Cora Ellen Robbins, 101, of Berwick died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Berwick Retirement Village II.

Born Dec. 29, 1916, in Nescopeck, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Cragle) Myers.

In her early years, Mrs. Robbins was employed at Dockies Shirt Factory in Berwick. She cleaned houses and also cleaned the former Strand Theater in Berwick. In addition, she raised chickens for eggs, which she sold in Mainville.

Cora was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist faith.

She was fondly regarded as the pillar of her family, the first one up in the morning to prepare lunches and get the furnace going. She was a devoted farmer’s wife.

Her favorite colors were red and black.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 42 years, Ernest C. Robbins, who died Sept. 20, 1977; and her son, William Glenn Robbins.

Surviving are her two daughters: Barbara A. Shoemaker of Berwick, and Linda Chorba of Michigan City, Ind.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, from noon until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick, with Carl Rittenhouse, elder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
