Deborah Martin Belcher, 65, passed away August 10, 2018 after a short illness. She was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Debbie was born April 14, 1953, and raised in Charleston, attending Stonewall Jackson High School, graduating in 1971. She went on to study at Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston, becoming a Certified Public Accountant. She was a devoted employee of the Valley Bell Dairy where she worked for many years. Debbie was involved in many community organizations, including being the Past President of the Edgewood Garden Club and a Past Board Member of the University of Charleston Builders. She was also a member of the Pilot Club of Charleston, First Presbyterian Church, the reunion committee for her high school class, Edgewood Country Club, and Berry Hills Country Club. She was a proud supporter of the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association and enjoyed honoring her parents through contributions to the University of Charleston. She was well-traveled, exploring the east coast, Mississippi River, Bermuda, Hawaii, Canada, Europe, and more. Debbie married the love of her life, Alex Belcher, on September 25, 1976. They built a life together, worked together, and traveled together. In lieu of children, dogs were raised. Debbie enjoyed celebrating her champion border collies Henry and Stella and visiting her horses at Timber Ridge Farm.

Debbie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bill and Mary Martin, and brother-in-law Peyton Montgomery, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Alex; her sisters Carol Martin Montgomery and Mary Beth Martin (Skip) Carson; nieces Pamela (Charles) Lorensen and Megan (Edward) Kilb; nephew Peyton Montgomery III; grandnephews Will Lorensen and Carson and Landon Kilb; grandniece Kristen (Andy) Heinlein; great grandnephew Miles Heinlein; great grandniece Eliza Heinlein; and dogs Henry, Lola, Stella, Hazel, and Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, West Virginia, 25311, or the Morris Animal Foundation, 720 S.
