Judith "Judy" Kay (Wolfe) (Harvey) Powell, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 12, 2018 after a brief illness at St. Vincent's Hospital (Indianapolis).

Judy was born in Brazil, IN, to Henry L. "Jack" and Jeanette Deatrick Wolfe. Judy grew up in Worthington, Indiana. She attended Worthington Jefferson Schools and graduated Valedictorian. Upon graduation, Judy attended Indiana State University where she obtained a B.S. and Master's Degrees in Education. She taught math and social studies at South Wayne Junior High School for 31 years. Judy was an avid golfer, Indy 500 fan, IU fan and an active volunteer with the Indiana Historical Society, Assistance League and PEO. She was a loving caregiver to many friends and neighbors and would travel to nearly every event her grandchildren, nieces and nephews were involved in. Judy was a true advocate for the environment and women's rights, and lived by the motto to treat everyone with kindness. She was a life-long learner and enjoyed traveling the US and abroad.

Judy is survived by her son, Mark Harvey, Mokena, IL, her grandchildren, Calista and Matt Harvey, and her step-children, Sabrina (Bob) Farris, Denver, CO, Terri Powell and Lisa Soultz, Indianapolis and step-grandchildren, Camille and Calder Farris. Also surviving are siblings Jack Wolfe, Linton, IN, Patricia Wolfe Pence, Terre Haute, IN, and Peggy Wolfe, Worthington, IN, and her sister-in-law, Judith (Charles) Price, Brownsburg, IN; nieces and nephews Christine (Kal) Ellis, and their children, Kalea, Karah, Christopher and Khloe, Terre Haute, IN; Benjamin Pence and his children, Jackson and Lilly Pence, Terre Haute, IN, Jenny (Tyler) Weiss and their daughter, Isla, Vancouver, Canada; and many cherished friends. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Powell, her parents, her daughter-in-law, Deborah Harvey, her nephew, Randy Wolfe and sister-in-law, Betty Wolfe.

Judy will be sadly missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Arrangements will be provided by Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, IN with visitation on Friday from 4-8pm and a memorial service on Saturday at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Indiana Historical Society, Assistance League of Indianapolis or Nature Conservancy.
