Thomas Frederick “Freddie” Newton, 81, of New Haven, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Signature Health Care in Bardstown. He was born in New Haven July 12, 1937, the son of the late Ivo and Emma Louise Hollis Newton. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bardstown. He retired from Bird & Son, Vinyl Co. in Bardstown with 31 years of service and Salsman Bros. Construction Co. in Bardstown for many years after his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gladys Hazelwood, Elizabeth Woolums, Sua Mae Lobbs and Dorothy Brunhammer; and two brothers, Bernard Newton and Mickey Newton.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Norris Newton of Balltown; two sons, Thomas Harold (Cathy) Newton and Christopher Allen (Belinda) Newton, both of Balltown; two sisters, Agnes Newton of New Haven and Mildred (Mike) Masterson of New Hope; three brothers, Joe (Anna Bell) Newton of New Haven, Lee (Beverly) Newton of Boson, and Felix (Kay) Newton of Buffalo; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bardstown with the Rev. Ben Brown officiating with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, and 8-10:30 a.m. Friday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St. in New Haven with a prayer service Thursday evening.
