Michael, 38, formerly of Shippensburg, PA. late of Williamsport, MD, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, August 11, 2018, at his home. He was a son of Barry Lee and Patricia Ann Shives Stine, who reside in Shippensburg.

Michael earned a Bachelor's degree from Lancaster Bible College, in Bible Studies, and two Master's degree from Liberty University, one in Arts in Religion and another in Religious Education.

He married Merissa LeeAnn Wadel on July 11, 2009, at the Orrstown United Brethren Church.

Michael was a minister of the United Brethren denomination, ordained in 2008. He had served congregations; Mt. Carmel U.B., in Fulks Run, VA, Mainsville U.B., Orrstown U.B., and Mongul U.B., all in Shippensburg, and most recently at Van Lear B.I.C., in Williamsport, MD. Michael, also technologically inclined and concurrent with his ministry, worked on websites for over twenty years, reaching 180 countries, and hundreds of thousands of people through www.spreadinglight.com.

He touched many lives with his writing as well, publishing several books, and worked as an online professor for Grand Canyon University, teaching courses in the Old and New Testament.

Michael enjoyed participating in the Boy Scouts and was proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He also tried his hand at woodworking and carpentry, but admittedly never achieved the level at which one would consider himself a woodworker, but he always gave a good go of it.

In addition to his parents and wife of nine years, Merissa, he is survived by his son, Luke Michael Thomas Stine; his brother, Matthew Alan (Crystal) Stine of Shippensburg; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Shives of Orrstown; one niece; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George M. Shives; and his paternal grandparents, John L. and Mildred V. Stine.

His funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the Orrstown United Brethren Church, Orrstown. Bishop Robert Patterson and Pastor Robert Conway officiated. Interment followed in the Mongul Cemetery.
