Rita K. Pierce age 89 of Amboy died Monday Oct. 20, 2008 at Amboy Rehab and Nursing Center. She was a life long resident of Amboy. She was born Sept. 2, 1919 in Amboy the daughter of Frank and Mary (Kiefer) Brady. She was a 1937 graduate of Amboy High School. On October 1, 1949 she married the love of her life Richard Wayne Pierce and he preceded her in death in 1972. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy , the St. Patrick Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary in Dixon. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers Edward, Francis, Charles and William Brady and 6 sisters Elizabeth Long, Aileen Morrissey, Josephine McKibbin, Jean Morrissey, Lauretta Fry and Francis Noonan. She is survived by 1 daughter Kathy (Arlyn) Schier of Amboy, 1 son Jim (Brandi) Pierce of Amboy; 4 grandchildren Kim Hargrave of Elburn, Eric Schier of Amboy, Kaylie Schier of Chicago and Riley Pierce of Amboy; 2 great granddaughters Sydney and Morgan Hargrave. Rita also had many wonderful nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her throughout her life. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 22, 2008 beginning with a 10:00 AM prayer service in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. David Vogel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 21, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home with the rosary recited at 7:30 PM. A memorial has been established to the Amboy Fire Department.
