Gary V. Gentry, 65, Valley Falls, died Thursday, July 26, 2018, at his home, after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer.
He was born December 28, 1952, at Topeka, the son of Marvin and Louise Warren Gentry. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1970 and received a business degree from Emporia State University in 1976.
Gary was a purchasing agent for Salisbury Construction and Industrial Supply in Topeka. Prior to that he had worked at Knox Contractor Supply in Topeka.
Gary was an avid sports fan and was a member of the Valley Falls Athletic Association.
He married Lorraine Simons, Nov. 24, 1979, at Valley Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, of the home; his son, Brian (Megan) Gentry, Scott City; his daughter Michele (Darren) Pittenger, Salina; two sisters, Arlene Gunnels, in Georgia, and Merlene Smith, Topeka; six grandchildren, Nicholas Domann, Kearstin and Jarrett Pittenger, and Kendall, Peyton, and Blakely Gentry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Louise Gentry.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Kearney and Son Construction, 15156 K4 Hwy, Valley Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time. The service will be conducted by Bill Simpson and Tracy Streeter.
