On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Vera F. Gordon held hands again with her beloved husband, Harvey Gordon in heaven. She was 86.
Vera was born in Wilkinson County, Georgia on October 31, 1931 to the late Myles Mitchell and Willie Mae Whitaker Fountain. Of the Baptist faith, she dedicated her life to faithfully serving her husband and raising her children to know and love God. While her girls were in school, she enjoyed working at their school library and in the library at Garden Lakes Baptist Church. Vera also worked for 6 years at Robins Air Force Base.
In her free time, she enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves play and watching football. Vera loved to eat catfish at Snellgrove’s and boiled peanuts. Fishing was her favorite pastime in her younger days, but doing word puzzles, telling jokes, and listening to country music.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Margie Ashurst, Mary Ann Eubanks, and Miles Fountain, Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Vera will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Gordon’s arrangements.
